    OVERVIEW

Please join the Private Directors Association in Chicago on June 21st for a panelist discussion on 50 Businesses in 50 Years: Building Companies through Professional Ownership.

Lubar & Co. is a private investment firm based in Milwaukee, WI, and has been successfully investing in operating companies for over 50 years. We describe our investment philosophy and operating style as Professional Ownership ® which includes:

    • Acquire companies jointly with operating managers who are dedicated to building their business and rewarded for doing so with equity ownership opportunities that align their interests with ours.
    • Operate each company on a world-class basis by providing management with the operational, financial and human resources necessary to develop the business.
    • Operate in an atmosphere of mutual trust, respect and the highest standards of integrity in all relationships.
    • Use common sense and sound judgment to guide our actions.
    • Build companies that produce reliable, growing earnings and reinvest the cash flow to fund future growth. This is a long-term investment strategy aimed at appreciation and compounding equity values.

Lubar’s investments are geographically focused in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and the surrounding states and encompass a broad range of industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, food, financial services, transportation and energy. We invest our own capital and have no pre-determined exit strategy. We serve on the board, and maintain very close and regular communication with the leadership teams of our Companies.  It is not uncommon for us to hold our investments for ten or even twenty years.  Governance is tailored to each company situation, but the basic precepts and practices have not changed significantly in all these years and with all of the companies we have owned.  Additional information about our firm and our investment philosophies, guidelines and criteria can be found on our web site: www.lubar.com.
