    Tom Mallon
    Chairman
    Regent Surgical Healthcare

    Tom Mallon is co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Regent Surgical Health. Formerly the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Tom has significant experience in venture capital funds, turnarounds, and physician recruitment, and offers each facility his expertise on all aspects of clinical and financial operations. Started in 2001, Regent specializes in working with physician and hospital partners in the development, management, and turnaround of surgery centers around the country. Tom earned a Bachelor of Arts from Denison University and his MBA from the Harvard Business School.

    George Pattee
    Chairman
    Parksite 

    George Pattee, began his Parksite and professional career in October of 1972, starting in the warehouse loading and unloading trucks. Over 45 years later he is Chairman of the Board. Since joining Parksite, George has been instrumental in the creation of an innovative product, Tyvek; responsible for opening sales offices in Ohio, Texas, Florida, including expanding in Southeast Georgia, Kentucky; effecting acquisitions of Plunkett-Webster, Sloan Distribution, Metro Distributors, Metro Associates and Eastern Distributors; restructuring Parksite Inc. into a 100% employee owned company (ESOP); George has served on many industry councils, as a presenter and consultant, including the National Association of Wholesalers (NAW), North American Building Material Distributor Association (NBMDA), The ESOP Association, and The Employee Owned S Corporations of America (ESCA). George received a Bachelor of Science in Management from Elmhurst College in 1977.

    Dan Bayston

    Mr. Bayston has spent his career in the middle market investment banking industry and joined Cognient in 2009 after a 25-year career with the financial services and investment banking firm of Duff & Phelps. Mr. Bayston is a member of the CFA Institute, the National Association of Corporate Directors, Private Directors Association™ (founding member), The Economic Club of Chicago, and the ESOP Association. Mr. Bayston is a member of the Board of Directors of Hobbico Corporation, Prime-Line Products Company, Besser Company, and the Family Firm Institute. He is involved in many civic and charitable organizations and is the former President of the University Club of Chicago. Mr. Bayston has a BS from the University of Illinois and a MBA from Northwestern University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a NACD Governance Fellow.

    William W. Merten

    Bill Merten is the chair of Winston’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Practice. He advises corporations, shareholders, directors, and various professionals regarding the use of ESOPs and ESOP-related strategies in a wide variety of transactions including, management buyouts, ownership succession transactions, private equity transactions, going-private transactions, ESOP company sales, and mergers and acquisitions.

    Susan Peters Schaefer advises clients on a wide range of matters that affect employee benefit plans, such as mergers and acquisitions, fiduciary responsibility issues, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) controversies, and prohibited transactions. She also represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor.

    Susan counsels clients such as global manufacturing and service companies, small business, fiduciaries, and financial institutions as well as corporations, individuals, and fiduciaries in a variety of corporate transactions. Susan assists clients with negotiation of employment and non-compete agreements, the development of succession plans, and the implementation of executive compensation plans.

    After 23 years at McDermott Will & Emery, Jerry retired to form Delaware Place Advisory Services LLC to assist on matters involving stock ownership plans, family business and corporate governance. He currently serves on the board of The Family Firm Institute and is its General Counsel. He has served on many family owned businesses and ESOP companies and has extensive experience in the areas of corporate finance, corporate tax and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPS). He is a founder of the Private Directors’ Association, a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Association for Corporate Growth, the ESOP Association, and the Lawyer’s Club of Chicago.
